What to Expect on a Night Zip Adventure in Aviemore
Looking for things to do after dark? Night Zip Adventure in Aviemore returns to G2 Outdoor on 25 October, transforming our Zip Adventure course at Alvie Estate into a completely different experience.
Hundreds of lights illuminate the forest, waterfalls, cliffs and Alvie Gorge below as you make your way through the course after dark.
It’s ziplining – but probably not quite as you’ve seen it before.
What is a Night Zip Adventure?
Night Zip uses our self-guided Zip Adventure course in the forest at Alvie Estate, near Aviemore.
Once darkness falls, the course is transformed with coloured lights throughout the trees. You’ll zip through the illuminated forest and above Alvie Gorge before finishing on our fully lit Zip Tower, with only your headtorch showing the way ahead.
A whole different adventure after dark.
Is Night Zip the same as Zip Trek?
No. G2 Outdoor has two different zipline experiences.
Zip Trek is a guided journey through the Caledonian pine forest and is open throughout the year. Night Zip takes place on our self-guided Zip Adventure course, which requires a little more independence and physical effort.
On Night Zip, you’ll use your arms to control your speed and direction, stand up unaided at the end of each wire and occasionally pull yourself a short distance along the cable. Our team will explain how everything works before you begin.
If you would prefer a guided ziplining experience, take a look at our Zip Trek course.
What happens when you arrive?
Please arrive at G2 Outdoor around 15 minutes before your booked trip time. This gives you time to check in and get ready without beginning your adventure with an unplanned sprint across Alvie Estate.
We provide the helmet, harness and headtorch you’ll need for the course. Our team will get you fitted with your equipment and explain how to use it before you head into the forest.
From the Adventure Hub, there is an uphill walk of around 10 minutes along a forest path to reach the start of the course. Then it’s time to clip in and see the forest in a completely different light.
How physical is Night Zip?
You don’t need to be an athlete, but Night Zip is a physical, self-guided activity.
You should be comfortable walking uphill on a forest path, using your arms to control your speed and direction, standing up unaided at the end of each zip wire and pulling yourself a short distance along the cable if required.
You don’t need to be an athlete, but you should read the fitness information before booking and contact us if you’re unsure whether the course will be suitable.
What should you wear for Night Zip?
This is the Scottish Highlands in winter, after dark, so warm layers are a very good idea.
Wear comfortable outdoor clothing suitable for the weather. Your footwear should have a good grip, as the platforms and forest paths can become wet and slippery, particularly when there is snow or ice.
Who can take part?
Night Zip Adventure is suitable for ages 10 and over.
Children under 13 must have an adult accompanying them on the course, with a maximum of two children per adult. Young people aged 13 to 18 may take part without an adult on the course, but an adult must remain on site while they are zipping.
The maximum weight is 120kg, or 19 stone. Participants must also fit safely into our harnesses. The maximum measurements are 110cm or 44 inches around the waist and 75cm or 30 inches around the leg.
If you have any questions about the requirements, call us on 01540 651784 before booking.
How long does Night Zip take?
The experience normally takes between one hour and one and a half hours. Remember to arrive approximately 15 minutes before your booked trip time for check-in and equipment fitting.

Night Zip Aviemore is suitable for families, groups of friends and anyone looking for a date night with a difference.
